ChatGPT For the Win? (insert eye rolling emoji!)

If your social media feed is anything like mine, you can’t scroll more than a couple of people before seeing a post about ChatGPT.

I won’t insult your intelligence by telling you what it is, because if you don’t know, don’t worry, but if you do, listen up!

The ChatGPT ‘bandwagon’ will not pass you by if you don’t dive in this very minute and buy someones course or watch 100 hours of videos to ‘get the most out of it’.

I promise.

Recently Tim Denning (a fellow Australian), posted this article on his Medium account telling us all to calm down and I couldn’t have said it better myself!

[To read Tim’s article click here: https://medium.com/swlh/chatgpt-is-massively-overhyped-its-time-we-all-calmed-down-972682ed79e6]

But there is something else going on here too, something Tim didn’t talk about.

Web3 Shakeup

It’s not just the fear we feel in missing out. It is the fear in the eyes of the Web3 CryptoBros who need to grasp some new way to make money, since the crypto ‘winter’ has not only resulted in many of them disappearing, but those left are scrounging for any morsels they can find.

ChatGPT gives them the opportunity to (collectively) hype up the AI app and thereby increasing FOMO for the rest of us, just going about our daily doom scrolling business on Twitter, and making their own market.

I mean when 15 months ago you had a portfolio that was worth several million dollars from buying disgusting looking monkey pictures (probably as a joke) and you look at it now, and it’s five figures now instead of eight, well …

Ouch!

The ChatGPT phase we are in right now is the same where during the crypto bull run when my then 12 year old, got his 25 year old brother an invite only spot in the ‘Wall Street Bets’ chat group, that was pumping cryptocurrencies on an almost hourly basis and people were making serious money out of them.

Right now, every second post you see about ChatGPT is how to use it, how to make money with it, what’s the best way to get it to do X, Y, Z jobs etc etc.

On the Web3 By Three podcast (I am co-host on) a couple of weeks ago, I said that listeners should ‘Follow me to learn how I made $1million from the lazy lounger next to my swimming pool using ChatGPT and how you can too!’. [insert laughing emoji here].

Of course I was joking but that is almost the point we are at in this crazy cycle.

On the This Old Marketing podcast last week, Robert Rose said that we had reached the ‘everyone gets a pony’ phase in the AI adoption era. Indeed Robert, indeed!

Almost every app you use will have some sort of AI integration within the next few months, as weekly announcements are made on who’s next.

If you are a content creator for your own business or someone else, AI and the future of it is certainly something you should learn about but the best way of doing that, in the first instance, is by trying it out.

Create yourself an account and have a play.

Before I posted this article (originally on LinkedIn), I ran it through ChatGPT to see if it had any useful suggestions or changes to phrases.

But just remember this.

There are many versions of this saying but basically be warned;

‘Junk In, Junk Out’

The results you get from ChatGPT questions and requests will only be as good as the inputs you use and what you want it to do. Overtime you will refine what you ask and how to get better results.

But it takes practice!

AI has been around for a while, and despite the CryptoBros wanting you to believe it just landed on Earth 2 months ago, this simply isn’t true.

Right now it is evolving (granted faster than it has previously) but like us, it’s still learning and will continue through this next phase and is likely to look totally different in two or three years time.

Drop the fear of missing out and save your money on all of the get rich quick courses and newsletters that are now seemingly everywhere and just jump in and have a go!

Good Luck.
